Starter, Alternator and Dynamo repairs in Burghfield Common

We all know that we are now living in a throwaway society with very little being repaired. However, starter motors and alternators can be repaired (if you know what you are doing) and that’s what we do and have been doing for over 40 years. There are very few people still doing this sort of work these days. So, if you would like us to repair your unit you need to get it off the vehicle and bring it to us. Don’t bring the car, just the starter or alternator. We don’t work on vehicles here and we don’t have any fitting facilities.

You will need to leave the unit with us and we will phone you, usually within 24 hours with a price to fix it. Then, if you are happy with the price, we will carry on and do the job. Providing we have all the parts in stock the job will probably be done in 24– 48 hours, often sooner than this. Remember we only work weekdays, we are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. If you are not happy with the price, we quote you for the repair, you can collect the unit and will not be charged. If, for any reason we are unable to repair your unit, we will try to and source another unit for you - we may even have one in stock.

Tip - before you refit the starter or alternator make sure the vehicle battery is fully charged and in good condition, otherwise you will overload the starter or alternator and invalidate the guarantee. If in doubt bring the battery to us and we will test and if necessary, recharge it for you – free of charge.

Guarantee - unless otherwise stated on the receipt, the work we do to repair a unit is guaranteed for a period of 12 months against failure due to manufacturing defects only. And 6 Months for Plant, Taxi and Marine Units
